Overwatch 2 PvE missions release angered the community, which didn't expect them to be three missions for $15. They claim Blizzard has gone greedy and think the company's approach will only get worse in the future. The related post on Reddit had almost 300 comments in less than 24 hours.
The core issue is seemingly not even the new content locked behind a paywall but the general direction the company has been moving for the last three years. They stopped releasing updates while switching to OW2 and forced fans to pay for new heroes.
Now, we got OW2 as a free microtransaction-filled nightmare, which I wouldn't really care too much if it wasn't for heroes also being locked out, none of the promised content and now most of the planned content has been stripped away, and the campaign is just "pay $15 for this set of missions"?
Blizzard is now just charging for a seasonal event, something we had in OW1. Not Summer Games, not Winter Wonderland, not Halloween Terror, no. Obviously, the one that was by far the most popular. They know, that's why they lock it behind paywall. They are greedy f**kers.
Blizzard announced the update for Overwatch 2 to come out on August 10, framing it as the "biggest content drop yet." It features a co-op mode, a new Support hero, and Invasion: Story Missions that should provide the fans with some kind of a lore dive.
