BlizzCon to comeback in 2023 after missing for three years

Blizzard president Mike Ybarra promised a return of BlizzCon in 2023. Because of the pandemic, the company's main event has not been held live for three years, staging the last time in 2019. The news came from Ybarra's interview with Los Angeles Times.

We previously announced we’re taking a pause on BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future, but we do want to return to a live event that enables us to celebrate the community. We recently hired a new leader of BlizzCon, April McKee, who is hard at work on that plan. We are committed to bringing back BlizzCon in 2023.

He didn't provide any information about the dates of the event. Traditionally, BlizzCon took place on the first weekend of November. During the pandemic, Blizzard held one online event in 2021 but opted not to recreate it in 2022.

BlizzCon typically featured a lot of important esports events, including Starcraft and Overwatch World Championships, Hearthstone Grandmasters, and Warcraft tournaments. The absence of these in conjunction with BlizzCon hurt almost every esport title of the company.
