Daniel “dafran” Francesca was one of the most highly anticipated players for Overwatch League Season Two after enduring a ban during his time on Selfless Gaming. As one of the peak hitscan players in 2017, he was seen as one of the greatest talents added to one of the newest Overwatch League teams, Atlanta Reign. Unfortunately, dafran announced via twitter today that his time with Overwatch was over, citing that having love or passion for the game was impossible.
The end. I hate the game. Thought I could love it again and have passion but its impossible, I always end up soft throwing. Contract ended, Overwatch uninstalled, Mcdonalds here I come. For real though thanks for everything u have given me OW Community
— dafran (@dafran) November 7, 2018
Dafran has a tendency to troll his followers and the Overwatch community, but following his statement, he has removed all Atlanta Reign assets from his Twitter account and since uninstalled Overwatch. On stream, he expressed frustration over the players in his games and his own desire to win. Moving forward, dafran will most likely be one of competitive Overwatch’s greatest “what if”s given his immense talent and streamer persona.
His peak performances in Overwatch came during his time on Selfless, where he was paired with San Francisco Shock DPS, Jay “sinatraa” Won. The Atlanta Reign loses one of its most promising prospects for Season Two, but given the timing and depth of talent on the roster, the team should be ready for Opening Day on February 14th, 2019.
