Fnatic Upset and Hylissang tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Worlds 2022

Fnatic announced that two members of the team, Zdravets "Hylissang" Iliev Galabov and Elias "Upset" Lipp, were tested positive for COVID-19. Their travel to Mexico for Worlds 2022 will be delayed. The team made the announcement on Twitter.

Team will participate in Worlds 2022 Play-In stage, which will begin on September 29. Fnatic are scheduled to play two matches on the first day, against Evil Geniuses and Chiefs Esports Club. It's yet unclear how Riot Games will approach the situation. In the past they allowed players to participate from isolation, but that usually happened on site, not before the travel.

Worlds 2022 will begin on September 29 with Play-In stage in Mexico City. 12 teams will be fighting for 2 group stage slots, the losers are out of the tournament. In the Worlds 2021 Fnatic qualified directly to the group stage. But one day before the start of the tournament Upset left the team, forcing it to play with a substitute. Fnatic took only one win across six matches and exited the tournament on 14-16th place.
