Today, Heo “PawN” Won-Seok announced the end of his two-year contract with KT Rolster and his free agency on Facebook.Pawn has not been KT Rolster’s starting mid laner since Son “Ucal” Woo-Hyeon came into the fold, but he remains one of the most famous players in Korea. PawN has struggled with back issues the last few years, spanning back to his time with EDward Gaming, but recently has committed to playing in 2019.
Although PawN has struggled to be part of KT the last few years, he is still well-decorated. PawN most notably won the World Championship in 2014 with the rest of Samsung White, but also won the 2015 Mid-Season Invitational with EDward Gaming. With EDward Gaming, he won one LPL title and went to the world championship twice, making it out of the group stage both times. On KT Rolster, he earned the most recent LCK Summer title, but did not start in the series against Griffin.
PawN is a bit of an unknown quantity, but there is no doubt that his peak deserves to be observed in the LCK or LPL again. With two international titles under his belt, along with two domestic titles in China and Korea, getting healthy and returning to the big stage is pawN’s next big hurdle. Moving forward, that’s all his fans and former teammates want to see.
