KuroKy: "We won the first League of Legends tournament with Puppey"

Nigma Galaxy Dota 2 coach Kuro "KuroKy" Salehi Takhasomi revealed that he and Clement "Puppey" Ivanov had won the very first League of Legends tournament in the history of the game. The veterans recalled this episode in a PGL podcast with N0tail at Wallachia S5. Both players struggled to remember the champions they played.

KuroKy: We won the first League of Legends tournament.
Puppey: Yes, we did.

KuroKy: And we are the first League of Legends tournament winners in the whole world.
N0tail: For real? How?
KuroKy: So, they made a Dota tournament to promote the game, and they hosted a League tournament at the same time. Yeah, we won it in the finals. We had to play against the developers, I think.
N0tail: What did you play?
KuroKy: I played the frostbird. The... Anemia? I think... so [ESN: real name is Anivia].
Puppey: I played the spinner, I think. The Juggernaut type of thing. Whatever it is [ESN: Probably, Master Yi]. Do you think I know? I'm done with that chapter. I'm just a first winner in League of Legends. This is it for me. Can't get any better.

All three players started their paths in the original DotA, although N0tail debuted as a professional in Heroes of Newerth. League of Legends came out in 2009, and as an esport developed in 2010. Dota 2 was released as a closed beta a year later.

Puppey became the first TI winner. Later, he and KuroKy played for NAVI together and made it to the grand finals of The International 2013. All three players united on Team Secret roster in 2014, which didn't work well despite the star-packed lineup. Each of the veterans had won at least one TI, and N0tail got two. Only Puppey is still competing in Dota 2, while the two others transitioned to coaching.
