OG co-founder Johan "N0tail" Sundstein explained his decision to take over the coaching position in the Dota 2 roster. The support revealed he has been playing the game since December, and he wanted to get into the competition again. The organization posted a brief video with his speech on X.
We're starting with the new project. I'm going to be leading the ship as a coach, also trying to put the project together, I guess, leading the charge. I got really inspired by the Wallachia tournament I went to, and I've been playing Dota since December. I feel like I never got any worse, I only got better. So I felt a surge of motivation to do more and get closer to the game. Even though I never stopped watching, I obviously stopped playing.
From his explanations, N0tail's role will be about building general ideas without diving into details. He wants to build good communication, work on theory, and offer solutions when things go wrong.
The full roster is not yet complete, but we're almost there, and things have been going in a nice direction. I'm trying to build this team on communication and the ability to speak about the game and strategize, and still play on a high level. Also, just playing the game with words, not really having to go through and test everything. I want to be able to theorize well, which is hard to do, and I didn't really achieve that with so many of my teams in the past. <...>
I still want to implement my ideas about the game and how you should play it. I want to see it done and my solutions used if there are problems. But it's never a single-man journey, never an "I" journey. It's about making the max, the full brain work, making everybody click, and using everyone's ability. We're hoping to qualify for TI14 and place at the top.
N0tail became the coach of OG on May 6. At the same time the organisation released their previous coach, Maurice "KheZu" Gutmann, who decided to step down. In a recent video released by the org, N0tail praised the specialist and put him above Ceb by some aspects.
