BetBoom COO on Bali Major incident: "It was such a clusterf**k. We felt like we were turned inside out"

BetBoom Team operational director Gleb "cenra" Antokhin recalled the incident at Bali Major 2023 with Pure's disqualification. He was disappointed with the admins' ruling and annoyed by their suggestion who to get as a stand-in. The COO shared his thoughts on stream.

There was this Epulze guy, and he, how to say it properly. We're sitting there, and they [TO] say, "Make a substitution." I say, "What f**king substitution? Who will we get? We're in Bali." And this guy says, "Huh, get Resolut1on." I was so f**king triggered by that. I was arguing with them, in correct manner, of course. But when the dude adviced us to just pick Reso, I thought, "Look what a f**king FIFA team manager we have here." That was such a clusterf**k. <...>

It felt like we were turned inside out. We were in our best shape at these two tournaments: Riyadh and then Bali [ESN: in reverse order]. I think we could've won the Major, we were playing amazing. I was trying my best, damn, I wanted BetBoom to win a Major so bad.

Pure was disqualified from the Bali Major due to Alt-tabbing to a stream running in the background on his PC during a pause. This happened in a match against Tundra in the upper bracket. According to BetBoom, the TO changed the final ruling three times. As later admitted by Chalice, Azure Ray pressured the organizers to disqualify Pure.

BetBoom had no options but to pick Resolut1on, who was a part of broadcast team. The Chinese team won the following match. Later, Puppey criticized Azure Ray for their approach to that situation. After a year, the same thing happened to one of their players at another event, but the penalty was not nearly as harsh.
