Valve has fixed the scandalous Smoke of Deceit bug in Dota 2. The developers didn't mention it during latest Call-To-Arms update but fans tested the glitch and reported that it was no longer working after the patch. This was also confirmed by dataminer Stepandota on Telegram.
Earlier, NAVI Junior were banned by organizers from ESL One Raleigh 2025 qualifiers due to the abuse of this bug. This kicked off a chain reaction, as other professional players were spotted using Smoke glitch. The TO started investigation into the matter, which is currently ongoing.
The bug has been known "for months" according to pro players, such as Miroslav "Mira" Kolpakov. His former teammate Denis "Larl" Sigitov was also spotted using the glitch. Team Spirit manager Korb3n promised to penalize the midlaner.
Smoke of Deceit bug allowed to see if the opponents are using the item when someone clicked on enemy equipment and dragged it out, or pinged on it to give notifications to allies. NAVI Junior reportedly abused it multiple times. It's still unclear how ESL will deal with this matter if they find new evidence. The event is scheduled to kick off on April 7.
