Korb3n promised to penalize Larl for using Smoke bug at ESL One Raleigh qualifiers

Team Spirit Dota 2 manager Dmitriy "Korb3n" Belov revealed that the organization plans to use some disciplinary measure against their midlaner Denis "Larl" Sigitov for using smoke bug at ESL One Raleigh 2025 qualifiers. He shared that on stream and reiterated on it in his Telegram channel.

I already said on the stream, let the ESL make the decision. We will punish [Larl] in any case.

Korb3n didn't explain how exactly they would to punish the midlaner. Probably, Team Spirit will publish a statement regarding the incident after ESL will make a ruling.

The manager commented on ESL's decision to ban NAVI Junior before that as well. He thinks the TO is not consistent in their decisions. In a similar case at ESL One Birmingham 2024, BB Team was only issued a draft penalty. Korb3n concluded that the punishment was harsh but overall "relatively logical."

The whole point of the statement is in its wording. It says, "For abuse." So, abuse is not just once or twice, but a lot, a lot, constantly. In general, it is unclear, to be honest [why the punishment is so harsh].

It is probably written somewhere in the rules, but I have already talked about such things. Remind me, what tournament was it when BB used some bug and they were given a time penalty? Was it ESL or not? If it is ESL, then we have a new question: Why do they issue a draft penalty for one case of a bug usage and you know what [disqualification] for another.

Again, here is another question: ESL says specifically for abuse. So, [it could be that] Save- did it once, for example [in Birmingham], and here NAVI did it many times. Overall, everything is relatively logical. The punishment is, of course, harsh. I think this is a lesson for everyone.

ESL disqualified NAVI Junior from Raleigh qualifiers on January 22. Shortly after, other players were spotted abusing the bug at the same event. ESL promised to investigate the matter and release an update on the situation once they finish.

How Smoke of Deceit bug works in Dota 2

The glitch allows players to see if the opponents used Smoke of Deceit. One of the ways it is done by dragging the item from opponent's inventory. On the following clip, Larl checks the opponent's inventory, dragging the smoke a few times.
