Dataminers revealed a list of Kez's abilities found in game files before the hero was released in the game. Most of them were reworked or renamed and included in the final skill kit. Two abilities, Blood Feather and Shadow Clone, didn't make it even though they had responses. The list was posted on the Stepandota Telegram channel.

Kez came out on November 8 with the release of Crownfall Act IV: The Spires of Skywrath. He is a new melee hero with a complicated set of skills. The last time a character's difficulty was rated three stars by Valve was in 2015 when they ported Arc Warden. Kez had a very low win rate on release and then got buffed by Valve. However, on November 12, the developers nerfed the character.
