Gunnar after upset against Spirit: "Last year, we defeated Tundra, who also were defending champions, in the same position"

Nouns offlaner Nicolas "Gunnar" Lopes commented on their unexpected victory over Team Spirit in the seeding decider stage of The International 2024. He explained their draft and reminded the viewers how they had dismantled defending champions last year at TI12, during exactly the same stage of the event.

Last year, we fought against Tundra, who were the reigning champions, we 2:0'ed them in the exact same position. So yeah, we had good vibes coming in.

On almost the same draft on two maps

We did a really good draft prep. After it I was like, "Guys, I feel so professional, like a real Dota team right now." Because it was really good! So we kinda went down the same line of preparation against them and it worked out.

On Luna vs Lina matchup

I think with the damage facet, Luna does crazy damage, scales really well to 25-level talent. She also usually builds tankier items late game. When the BKBs are down, Luna takes over Lina with magic damage. <...> We didn't really expect to pick her. Yuma has been talking about it. He feels the vibe of Luna, thinks she's good, but we haven't really practiced with her too much: Maybe one or two games.

Nouns defeated Spirit 2:0, which was quite a surprise for everyone: They were the worst team in their group, while the two-time TI champions didn't lose a single map before the series.

In the next match, nouns will face either G2.iG or Gaimin Gladiators. The latter knocked them out from TI12 last year, so Gunnar said he would prefer to face the Chinese. However, he doesn't mind to "face GG in the grand final."
