Gpk~: "Team Zero surprised us with a few heroes. We did not expect mid KotL"

BetBoom Team midlaner Danil "gpk~" Skutin explained why the team failed in the group stage of Dota 2 The International 2024. He believes they made too many mistakes in crucial moments, and the opponents took advantage of it. The player shared his thoughts in a team vlog from the tournament.

[Did Nouns surprise you?] No. They are a simple opponent. It was easy in the drafts, and everything in the game was easy. We defeated them without any issues.

[What happened in the match against Team Zero?] We more or less knew what they would do. I think we played worse in some cases, and the opponents surprised us with a few heroes. We did not expect mid Keeper of the Light. We should have easily won the first game, but we made huge build mistakes and wrong moves. It happens. In the second game, nothing worked, and we were destroyed. [Did you underestimate them?] Definitely not. We played scrims against them and knew that this wasn't an easy opponent.

[How would you rate Falcons' drafts?] I was happy with the hero picks in both games. The opponent turned out to be stronger today. Nothing worked for us. <...> We weren't afraid of them, but I just had to survive two fights in the first game. We were worse mechanically, they played better.

BetBoom Team defeated Nouns, but lost to both Falcons and Team Zero in Group C. Their opponent in the decider was Team Liquid. The Eastern European team lost with a score of 1:2. In the the playoffs, they will play the elimination match against Talon Esports. The game will start on September 9 at 10:00 CEST.
