G2.iG support Yap "xNova" Jian Wei shared his thoughts about the upcoming The International 2024 in an interview with BLAST. The players considers the event to be the "most even" in history, as a number of teams is looking strong coming to the tournament.
There are too many of them: Team Falcons, Xtreme Gaming, Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, Tundra Esports, BetBoom and Cloud9 (since we just lost 5v4 to them). Ah, I don’t know, all the teams are pretty strong, and this probably might be the most even TI.
He also shared his take on Chinese teams, particularly Xtreme Gaming and Team Zero. The latter arrived in Copenhagen as a dark horse, qualifying through local bracket. XNova wasn't surprised with such an achievement.
Xtreme Gaming is definitely on par with or maybe even better than some of the European Dota 2 teams. From my experience, it just depends on how the competition goes because momentum plays a big part in the team's performance. <...>
Throughout the year, Team Zero always upsets some of the favorites in most of the qualifiers and that is not a surprise. They are a team that you need to respect.
What I like about them is they always stick to their own ideas and play style. We struggled with our drafts and overall performance against Team Zero. The series didn't go as planned, but we've taken away important lessons from that.
The International 2024 will take place in Copenhagen from September 4 to 15. The prize pool of the event is currently at $2.37 and will increase with the following Compendium sales. TI13 has 16 teams instead of 20 and a new format. More details can be found below.
