XBOCT on coaching NAVI: "Not everyone agreed to play together with Dendi"

Dota 2 analyst and former pro Oleksandr "XBOCT" Dashkevych recalled his time as a coach in NAVI. He explained that their failures happened because some players didn't want to play with Danil "Dendi" Ishutin and behaved irresponsibly. XBOCT spoke about it on stream.

On coaching NAVI

It all depends on the players: how they perceive, what they want to do, and so on. It was complicated for me. Not everyone agreed to play together with Dendi. This was why some players didn't practice, even though things went well for us. But it didn't last long, and then it became complicated again. This caused quarrels and omissions. I was the only one who knew the truth, and I had to work with it. I should've talked to them, but they didn't want it.

When the lineup was Crystallize, RodjER, SoNNeikO, GeneRaL, and Dendi, something could have been achieved. We had our moments. But Crystallize was afraid of responsibility, Dendi went into statistics and did everything according to it. It was that [could've worked], but not everyone liked it. GeneRaL was sitting there, watching Sobolev's video [Russian blogger unrelated to Dota]. But respect to RodjER. He was tryharding, playing a billion pub games.

HR are playing great. When I saw the line-up, I thought that Solo had decided: enough victories, enough of everything. For the last time, so to speak. But here, they are doing well. Maybe he finally found a roster to listen to him. Previously RAMZES didn't listen, then No[o]ne, then ALOHADANCE. And now, maybe, these guys are comfortable with him.

XBOCT was coaching NAVI for a year in 2017-2018. The team was struggling for a while. Aside from a few small achievements, his time in NAVI didn't change the general outcome. He departed the team in September 2018, together with Dendi, GeneRaL, and Lil.
