The Dota 2 community has been waiting for the Dota 2 7.20 patch for a long time and it is finally here! As expected, it has brought with it a lot of changes but not necessarily what we might have expected.
The big changes of the patch are:
The map has been changed in the sense many new ramps have been added to the map. The location of shrines, bounty runes and Roshan remain the same, but high ground and low ground areas have definitely seen a change. This is bound to give rise to new warding locations and changes in the way to farm and gank. The map now seems to have four small islands parched on it.
This is an important change as a lot of the professional players had complaints regarding the way the deny mechanic worked. The experience parity will reduce with the change, but the gold parity will increase quite a bit. There are changes to hero kill XP and death timers as well which will affect the laning stage.
This is perhaps the biggest change in the game. Ring of Aquila was being made on any and all heroes, regardless of whether it was a strength, agility or intelligence hero or whether it was a core or support. The writing was on the wall and we might have seen the last of this ring.
Leashed is a new state which prevents a target from teleportation or using mobile abilities like Blink. It is applied on Slark’s Pounce, Puck’s Dream Coil and Grimstroke’s Soulbind.
Items have undergone changes and some new items have been introduced. The biggest change is that Kaya can be evolved into new items by combining it with either Sange or Yasha to form:
-Kaya and Sange
-Yasha and Kaya
The new items introduced include:
Ring of Tarrasque (basic item):Costs 700 gold. Grants +3.75 HP Regen and +150 Health. Upgrades into Heart of Tarrasque and Holy Locket
Crown (basic item): +4 All Stats, 450 Gold (available in side shop). Used in items that previously required Bracer, Wraith Band, and Null Talisman
Holy Locket:Passive. Causes all heals and hp regen you provide to be amplified by 25%
That’s right. The painter and his brush make their way into Captain’s Mode and will challenge Io for the most banned hero at the next tournament!
There are a lot of changes to the heroes in the form of ability rewords. The following heroes have had their abilities reworked or changes in Dota 2 7.20:
That’s 36 heroes out of a 116, which is a whopping 31% of heroes that have been reworked on!
The complete change log can be found here.
There are just a LOT of changes as Dota 2 7.20 will literally change the way the game is played. The repercussions of all these changes put together are hard to predict just by reading them, but VPEsports will do the best at deciphering these changes in the articles to come.
