Team Secret are the First Grand Finalists at The KL Major

The Upper Bracket Finals of The Kuala Lumpur Major closed out the penultimate day of the event with Team Secret taking on Virtus.pro. Secret were looking basically unstoppable this far at the Major, especially after their victory over PSG.LGD yesterday. VP had also begun to find their stride as they took down Ninjas in Pyjamas in emphatic fashion yesterday and now Secret would be the only team standing in the way of them and a Grand Final spot at the Major.

Game one was over in under half an hour and for the most part it was fairly even, with both teams farming across the board but no clear leader in sight. But Secret were starving VP of kills, allowing them only a total of 10 throughout the game, while Yek ‘MidOne’ Nai Zheng’s Monkey King ran rings around them. Once Secret took compete control, there was no hope for VP and game one was over.

Secret went into the next game of the series looking confident, especially with Michal ‘Nisha’ Jankowski getting the Arc Warden which he has been destroying everyone in his way throughout the Major. But VP seemed prepared for everything coming their way and with Roman ‘RAMZES666’ Kushnarev on a nearly unkillable Morphling, they denied Secret a series sweep and tied things up.

The deciding game would, once again, see Nisha get the Arc Warden and both teams threw everything at each other throughout the game. It was Secret who held a solid lead especially with the Arc Warden constantly split pushing. By little over half an hour a tier 3 was already down in VP’s base and they seemed to be falling further behind.

GRAND FINALS SECURED!

It was all Secret at the end as they ripped through their enemies and destroyed the Ancient, becoming the first team in the Grand Finals of the Major. Virtus.pro are not down-and-out just yet, they will drop into the Lower Bracket where they will play Evil Geniuses tomorrow at a chance to make it to the grand finals too.
