Dataminer: Leaks show possible new mode or mission in CS2 featuring tripwire mines

Dataminer Prom_Molekura analyzed the latest patch in CS2. He discovered lines with mentions of tripwire mines, with some changes suggesting they may be used in future. He explained his conclusions in a YouTube video.

Tripwire mines have been present in the game files as a dead weight since CS:GO. The dataminer says they were intended for Danger Zone mode. However, the new lines were added in the recent update, describing the in-game behavior of those items. He also reminded that the developers removed everything related to that mode, so the tripwire mines are supposed to be used elsewhere.

Based on previous findings, it seems that Valve is preparing some kind of new mode or unusual missions for CS2. Some lines reveal a possibility of weapon upgrades or crafting, knife damage dealt to NPCs, and explosive items, such as gas cans, barrels, and fireworks. As always with game file leaks, all these features can be tested by the devs and still be scrapped in future.

Earlier, Valve announced the Premier Season 2 end date to be July 14. The next one will presumably start a day later, and it might feature some new content. Aside from cosmetics and maps, CS2 haven't received any in-game content for a long time, while many CS:GO modes were seemingly abandoned. When it comes to new gameplay options, there's almost no information. Some older leaks suggested a possible return of classic Escape and VIP (Assassination) modes.
