G2 Esports rifler Nemanja "huNter-" Kovac will miss the start of PGL Astana 2025. The team coach Wiktor "TaZ" Wojtas will stand in to replace him. According to the org's statement on X, huNter- is unable to attend at the start due to visa issues.
The Bosnian may join later, but it's unclear when exactly. For now, he is only missing the "starting matches." Thanks to the Swiss format, the team won't drop out at least until May 12. If G2 make it through, they'll have an additional 2-4 days for their player to return before the playoffs. The roster was renewed before the tournament, as Aleksander "hades" Miskievicz replaced Ilya "m0NESY" Osipov.
It won't be the first time for Woitas to play as a stand-in for G2. A year ago, at BLAST Premier: Spring Final 2024, he had to replace m0NESY on the first day, also due to visa issues. They lost to Team Spirit with a score of 1:2. TaZ had a bad time, earning just 0.59 rating, but the loss can't be blamed just on him, as on one of the maps NiKo had even worse results.
PGL Astana 2025 will be held from May 10 to 18 on LAN in Kazakhstan. 16 teams will fight for a share of the $625k prize pool. The new G2 lineup will debut in a match against MIBR, scheduled to start at 10:00 CEST.
