Team Spirit and Vitality faced each other in the bo5 grand final at IEM Katowice 2025. The Russian CS2 roster was unable to defend their title. The series ended with a score of 3:0 — Dust2 (13:6, Nuke (13:5), and Mirage (13:11).
VItality started strong and demolished Spirit on Dust 2. Robin "ropz" Kool avenged his heartbreaking loss on this map in the final of Shanghai Major 2024. He was the best player on the roster by far, posting 26-9 KD.
Danil "donk" Kryshkovets was silent on the first map, but came to live on the second, Nuke. The efforts of the star prodigy were futile as the rest of the team was nowhere to be found. On the final map, Spirit showed more resistance, but it wasn't enough.
Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut was named the MVP of the event. He finished the tournament with 1.42 rating. He caught up on Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev by the amount of MVP awards. They both are sitting on 21 medals.
IEM Katowice 2025 took place in Poland from January 29 to February 2. The million-dollar prize pools was split between 24 participants. Team Spirit arrived to the event as the defending champion and Major winner, undefeated until this event. This is the first victory for the renewed Vitality with ropz.
