NiKo on why he left G2: "I didn't really agree with some of the changes we've done throughout the majority of the time"

Falcons CS2 player Nikola "NiKo" Kovac went over his decision to leave G2 Esports. At IEM Katowice 2025, he said he wasn't satisfied with their results and roster decisions, even though it was a "best team" at the end of his journey. He shared his thoughts in

We actually got the best team towards the end when I decided to leave, so it was a bit of unfortunate timing for me, I would say. But if I look at the whole four years when I was part of G2, I think it's safe to say that the first two and a half years were pretty disappointing. We haven't won a single event.

With this, I've been very disappointed in how we played, and how some things have been managed, with roster changes we have made as well. We haven't been competitive for the titles the majority of the time. We had some peaks, going to finals but we were never really as good as NAVI for example. So yeah, the biggest reason I decided to leave is that I didn't really agree with some of the changes we have done throughout the majority of the time.

Falcons said they're here to build a team around me. And I think we have the right people to have me achieve that.

NiKo already faced G2 in one of the first matches of the year. As of writing, Falcons are fighting against them in an elimination match at IEM Katowice 2025. They are going even on the last map Mirage, the score in the series is 1:1.

Earlier, NiKo discussed how he felt meeting former teammates after a month-long break, and spoke about m0NESY's future. He suggested the AWPer my perform better with some extra space.
