NiKo on transfer to Falcons: "In the near future, I will speak more on why I made this decision"

CS2 star Nikola "NiKo" Kovac commented on his move from G2 Esports. After joining Team Falcons, he released a post about it. In a follow-up tweet, the Bosnian rifler promised to explain his decision to change the team in future.

Today, I start a new exciting chapter with Falcons. I'm here to give my best and do everything in my power to help the team achieve our goals — win trophies and make history together. I'd also like to thank G2 Esports for these amazing 4+ years. It has been an unforgettable journey, filled with incredible memories that I’ll cherish forever. Thanks to all my former teammates, the staff, and the amazing G2 fans for their support. It’s time for me to move on, but I'll always be a proud supporter of the #G2Army. <...>

In the near future, I will speak more on why I made this decision on my stream and interviews. Appreciate all the support.

Nikola "NiKo" Kovac

NiKo moved to Falcons after negotiations that lasted for over a year, since first reports arrived in October 2023. The rumor is that Falcons promised him a massive salary, possibly the biggest in history of CS. Despite that, he turned down the initial offer at the end of that year and agreed on terms only in the second half of 2024.

NiKo is often credited as the best rifle player in history due to his consistent performance. He reached top 5 of HLTV's annual list of best players for the last four years and has a chance to get there in 2024 as well. However, the biggest trophies always eluded NiKo. His duo with m0NESY became the most successful period in his career, as they won together multiple events, including Katowice and Cologne.
