Top streamer and former CS:GO, Valorant pro, Michael "shroud" Grzesiek announced the development of his own game together with the game developer Splash Damage and streamer Chris "Sacriel" Ball. It's currently called Project Astrid. The reveal was released on Twitter.
It's actually unclear how much impact shroud would bring to the project. In the video, he mostly talks about gunplay and ideas on how to enhance it. The developers claim that he and Sacriel are the "core members of the development team." Shroud shared that parties combined their ideas to create a new experience for the players.
Chris and I have refined a vision for what’s next in the survival genre, and with Splash Damage, we’re setting out to build it. We want to build the best survival game ever, and with Sacriel’s brain and Splash Damage’s team, I know we can do it.
There are a lot of talks about how Project Astrid should be a new word in the survival genre in the promotional materials. Sacriel claims that their ideas are "mind-blowing."
Splash Damage was involved in top-tier development but never created a full AAA title by themselves. They developed multiplayer for DOOM 3, Batman: Arkham Origins, Gears 4 and 5. Splash Damage's releases include games like Halo: MCC for PC, Brink, Outcasters, and others. The studio belongs to Tencent and currently develops Transformers: Reactivate.
